LOCKSS 2.0-alpha2 Available for Testing
The LOCKSS Program is pleased to announce that LOCKSS 2.0-alpha2 is now available for testing.
The LOCKSS Program is pleased to announce that LOCKSS 2.0-alpha2, the second publicly available prototype of its next-generation distributed digital preservation software suite, is now available for testing.
This new iteration comes with numerous bug fixes and performance improvements, and many enhancements to the user interface, installer, tests, documentation, and more. Specific highlights of this release include:
- The ability to use external PostgreSQL or Solr databases run locally or institutionally, rather than the included PostgreSQL and Solr databases.
- Performance improvements in the repository, including paginated iteration and artifact caching.
- Tools to upgrade Solr across versions and schemas, as part of upgrading the included Solr database from 6.6.5 to 7.2.1.
- REST authentication throughout the system, with REST services authenticating clients, and REST clients and the Pywb web replay engine providing credentials.
As we march toward a fully featured LOCKSS 2.0 system, we welcome the community's input. We invite developers to read the release notes, try out the installation instructions or upgrade from 2.0-alpha1 to 2.0-alpha2, and provide us with feedback.
